The First Begrudgingly Blog Post of Doom

Hey Peeps!

This is by far NOT my first blog, HOWEVER... my Computer Science professor (pictured below) insists that the entire class needs to practice blogging... sooooo, blame him.

This is the guy, right here

Anyways, today we talked about internet privacy and the fact that it doesn't really exist.  Every email you send is stored on the email's server (yahoo, google, etc), FOREVER.  This even includes text messages (SMS) and is stored with the phone company (AT&T, Verizon, etc) that phone is connected to and all with your information.

Also, I learned today (that I didn't know before)...

-The iPhone was launched in 2007
-Bill Gates stole Steve Jobs idea and launched it first (but Steve's was better)
-You can accidentally bring cryptographic information to another country and get into trouble for exportation
-The stylus is a pen that writes on the computer screen (don't laugh, I didn't know that it was called something all fancy like "stylus, sounds like an exotic car to me)
-There is almost 1 billion working webpages on the net right now
-In 1996 is when the Communications Decency Act (CDA) was launched to provide severe criminal penalties for providing indecent material over the internet (cyber-bullying should be included in that)

-And most importantly... I can sleep with my eyes wide open AND while taking notes (but it's not very restful)

Anyhow, have a cheery day!  More soon!
